Day 1 Arrive at the Kamuzu International airport in Lilongwe on. a 2Africa Representative will meet you and transfer you to Kumbali Cultural Center, where you will stay on bed & breakfast terms.

 Kumbali Cultural offers you one of the few natural forests and a spectacular view from the hills of the Capital Hill Dairy Farm across to Nkhoma Mountain, which completes the picturesque setting of this cultural lodge, which offers dance and musique performances.

It is a small, family-owned lodge, that  aims to make  their  guests feel as comfortable as possible.

Day  2 – 4  Zambia, South-Luangwa National Park,  Wildlife Camp, FB plus all game – activities ( game drives and night drives )

 On day 2, an early breakfast, followed by a road transfer to  Mfuwe, South – Luangwa National Park in Zambia. Upon arrival at the Zambian border, clear customs and continue to Kafunta River Lodge in Mfuwe. Safari activities consist of game drives, night drives & walks. One may indicate what kind of safaris you would like to do each day.

South Luangwa National Park

Malawi is fortunate to be a gateway to this beautiful park in Zambia, “the Valley of the Elephants”, one of the finest game viewing areas in all of Africa. South Luangwa is the better known of the parks in Zambia, with an extensive network of roads and lodges it offers a unique wilderness experience. The valley is teaming with a large variety of game. Large herds of  buffalo (said be to the largest in Africa) and also elephants are one of the major attractions of the valley.There is a wide variety of wildlife, probably the

best in central Africa. This park has numerous lions, leopards, wild dogs, hyenas, elephants various types of antelope and birds. You may be lucky to see a pride of lions over a kill or a leopard kill! Optional activities include a visit to a traditional AfricanVillage. Thornicroft’s giraffe and Cookson’s wildebeest are some of the unique animals that are endemic to this part of Africa. The dominant antelope that abound in the valley are impala and puku, along with kudu, zebra, eland, reedbuck, wildebeest, hartebeest and bushbuck. The birdlife in the valley is also of rich and varied diversity with over 400 species recorded.The large flocks of cranes, brightly coloured Carmine bee-eaters and the numerous different raptors are but a few of the spectacles that you may see. The Valley is filled with animals and practically empty of people.

Wildlife Camp, South Luangwa National Park

The Wildlife Camp is situated on land owned by Wildlife and Environmental Conservation Society of Zambia (WECSZ). The camp operates under their auspices and  donate a considerable portion of funds generated by your stay there to the WECSZ – roughly 60% of all the accommodation and camping fees, which in return supports the wildlife and people of the Luangwa Valley and Zambia.

Wildlife Camp is divided into four main parts, all with its own unique atmosphere and views. The lodge, the tented Camp, the campsite and the Bush Camp.

Day 5 Viphya Plateau, Luwawa Forest Lodge, FB

 Transfer to the Viphya Plateau ( this takes 7 – 8 hours ) where you will stay at Luwawa Forest Lodge in  chalets with en-suite facilities on full board. The lodge has a perfect forest setting and overlooks the Luwawa Dam which is well stocked with fish ( fishing in season is permitted ). The Lodge is provided with electricity by solar and wind power is run on environmentally friendly priciples.

Optional activities are: Rock climbing and abseiling from the local inselbergs, sailing and kayaking, bird watching safaris, night drives, cultural experiences in remote villages, fishing, squash, table tennis, sundowners at local mountainpeaks, guided walks and mountainbiking.

Viphya Forest Reserve:

This reserve is on the huge Viphya Plateau just north of Mzimba and close to the mainroad. It has one of the largest pine plantations in Africa. Many excellent walks can be taken through the plantation and through several indigenous forests. Luwawa has some good birdwatching areas.

Day 6 This morning  drive to Chitimba in northern shores of Lake Malawi . Check in at Chitimba Camp on full board terms.

 Chitimba Camp

On the Northern shores of Lake Malawi lies Chitimba Camp. Chitimba is a village situated 122 km south of the Malawi/Tanzania border at Karonga, and 143 km from the capital of the north, Mzuzu.

The lodge/campsite is set on a beautiful golden sandy beach, amongst banana palms and papaya trees, surrounded by the famous Livingstonia and Nyika mountains. It lies off a tarmac road that runs straight through the country, from the border of Tanzania all the way to the capital city of Lilongwe.

As you enter the property through a large wooden gate the main focus is the large thatched bar/restaurant/lounge. On the right side of the 1.8 hectares are 5 beach huts, 4 rooms with toilet and shower and a dorm with 6 beds. There is space for 80 tents and there is a separate toilet and shower block for males and females.

The lodge/campsite is mostly visited by overland trucks and backpackers. It is the first (heading south) or last (heading North) stop in Malawi for overlanders

Day 7 Old Farm House in Iringa, half board terms.

This morning you will cross the border into Tanzania, and drive up tp Kisolanza Farm.

Kizolanza Farm some 50 km outside Iringa is a relatively cool place to spend the night. Overnight in Chalets with open fires. Restaurant offers good meals.

Day 8  After breakfast, continue to Ruaha National park, and check in at Ruaha Hilltop Lodge outside the park on full board terms.

Ruaha Hilltop Lodge

Ruaha Hilltop Lodge is built on a hill with a wonderfull panoramic view outside the park. There are many types of different birds, wild flowers, butterflies and trees that can be seen nearby.

The luxury self contained cottages are very comfortable and private, each with its own balcony with a beautiful view. The water is heated by solar power.

The reception, dining room and bar are all under one roof, with a gallery to enjoy the spectacular African sunrise and sunset. Giraffes, elephants and baboons and kudus can sometimes be glimpsed not far way. We also have an own Curio Shop. You can find some pictures downwards. Our experienced chefs provide both continental and Tanzanian cuisine, using fresh products from the local area. The bar is well stocked and also serve fresh juice and bake own bread.

Day 9 – 10 Ruaha National Park, Daily, full day  game-drives by Makomo car with picnics. Dinner and overnight in the  Ruaha Hilltop Lodge,  FB

Ruaha N.P. isTanzania’s 2nd biggest park. Wildlife is concentrated along the cascading GreatRuahaRiver that is the park’s lifeblood. Home to hippo and crocodiles snacking on schools of fish, it is a flooded torrent after the rains, dwindling to precious pools surrounded by a blinding sweep of sand in the dry season.  Waterbuck, impala and the world’s most southerly Grant’s gazelle risk their lives for a sip of its waters…..a permanent hunting ground for lion, leopard, jackal, hyena and packs of wild dog – rare elsewhere. Unique combinations of animals co-exist here – both the greater and lesser kudu, sable and roan antelope – Ruaha being the only protected area in the world where the flora and fauna of eastern and southern Africa overlap.

Mikumi N.P. is Tanzania’s third largest National Park, covering 3230 square kilometre. Mikumi is one of the most popular of Tanzania’s National Parks. One of the principal features of Mikumi is the MkataRiver flood plain ( an area of lush vegetation which particularly attracts elephants and buffaloes ), along with the mountain ranges that border the park on two sides ( in the east the UluguruMountains, in the  west the RubehoMountains ). Open grasslands dominate in the flood plain, eventually merging with the miombo woodland covering the lower hills.

Day 11 – 12  Drive of 6 hrs back to Mikumi National Park. Packed lunch on-route and a late afternoon game-drive by Makomo car on day 13, and morning and afternoon game drives on day 14. Dinner and overnight in Tan Swiss Lodge outside the park, FB

Day 13 An “expedition” through Uluguru Mountains to Selous Game Reserve ,   which is, depending on the river, a journey of about 8 – 9  hours. A beautiful drive through rivers, villages, small bridges and the  tropical forest of Uluguru Mountains. Packed lunch on-route. Once in Selous, game drives en-route the eastern gate of the reserve. Dinner and overnight in Selous Wilderness Camp / or Selous River Camp both outside the reserve, FB + game activities.

Day 14 – 15 On both days,we enter Selous Game Reserve, for a full day of  game-drives by 2Africa car. There will be one afternoon boat safari in one of these days.  Packed lunch on the day. Dinner and overnight in either Selous Wilderness Camp, FB

 Named after the legendary British explorer, Selous Game Reserve ( three times the size of Serengeti N.P. and twice the size of Belgium ), was founded as a Reserve in 1905 by the colonial administration and later expanded to include the traditional elephant migration routes.

The Reserve provides shelter for most of Tanzania’s largest elephant population, large herds of buffalo, crocodile, hippo, a variety of 440 species of birds and over 2000 variety of plants. Lions and leopards are also present together with one of the greatest predators of Africa, the African wild dog. The park probably holds the largest concentration of this endangered animal, which hunts, in large packs and with the reputation of being among the most formidable predators.

Covering 50,000 km sq, Selous is the true African wilderness that has had missionaries, explorer and hunters from bygone days but has still managed to keep its doors closed to many. Hot volcanic springs, lagoons, the great RufijiRiver and the diverse landscape makes Selous Game Reserve is a World Heritage site.

Day 16 After breakfast, either transfer to Mtemere airstrip for a flight to Dar Es Salaam or Zanzibar, or a road transfer to Dar Es Salaam with picnics.
